Paula Gilland is a former nurse who took an opportunity to run a small business in her 50s. In 2017, Paula and her son Taylor started The Purple Bowl, a food service business that serves acai bowls. It's now a community space for many students and locals. In 2024, The Purple Bowl had to move to a new location, and Paula took on the challenge of moving the community she started while trying to establish a new work/life balance.
